Transyt / TranED Network Modelling Recent Project: A38 Corridor Study; West London Tram Project As a specialist consultancy, both in the application of Transyt or TranEd and in the training of others to use Transyt and TranED, BCC are often invited to build, validate and improve urban corridor networks. This work includes pre and post-model site visits, the former to log current lane usage and measure critical lane saturation flows and cruise times, and the latter to validate the newly built Transyt network for the ‘as-is’ scenario an/or to affect further operational improvement. BCC are also an acknowledged UK-wide public and in-house Transyt/TranED Transyt training provider. Design of Signalled Roundabouts A speciality of the Barbara Chard Consultancy is the design and operational improvement of signal controlled roundabouts using either the Transyt/12, TranED2 or Linsig2 software. BCC follow the 'best practice' guide in designing signalled roundabouts by first applying lane/flow, critical lane flow and lane/flow balancing methodology to achieve optimum design potential. BCC also offer UK-wide public and in-house Training Courses on the design of signal controlled roundabouts using Transyt.
TA Design/ Checking/ Auditing BCC have a wealth of experience both preparing and audit/ checking traffic impact evaluations for/ from developer consultants using Transyt, TranEd, Linsig, Arcady, Picady and/ or Paramics. Development Control Officers - Are you a little rusty on understanding Arcady? Picady? or maybe Transyt or TranEd? - and someone has just placed a huge TA submission on your desk with a directive to respond by next week? We can help. BCC offer a thorough but rapid audit/ check service for all traffic impact submission work involving Transyt, TranED, Linsig, Arcady and Picady. We will tabulate detected errors and offer advice as to the 'best way forward' in a format ready to pass on the submitter. We are also happy to attend and offer you support at meetings with Developer Consultants to discuss submission responses and aid resolution and/ or progression of the scheme. Linsig Modelling BCC modellers have over 15 years experience in the use of Linsig to;
Paramics Modelling BCC operate an S-Paramics (Lite) Licence and can produce small network microsimulation models either as a public relations exercise or, more commonly, to aid difficult traffic control derivations. BCC also make extensive use of Paramics in their Training courses to illustrate different design methodologies, in particular, at signal controlled roundabouts. Consult-Assistance As principal Transyt trainers UK wide, BCC are well aware that just attending a Transyt course is 'not enough' and that newly trained Transyt modellers need time and lots of practice following their Transyt training to gain confidence and expertise in using this software on 'real' network projects. BCC can help organisations who do not have a resident 'Transyt expert' by offering a Consult-Assistance service whereby a trained BCC modeller will be made available 'on tap' at the end of a telephone or through email messaging to help 'new modellers' get through their first Transyt commissions and to help them perfect their modelling skills. This can also take the form of traffic surgeries, where an experienced BCC modeller will attend your offices for a half or whole day and help new Transyt modellers progress urgent work insitu.
